CVS Job Preparation Tips

August 6th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

Interview SuccessI know the feeling; butterflies in your stomach and sweaty palms during your interview. Don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal. But there are a few tips you can take with you to your job interview at CVS that can help you calm your nerves and give you the best chance at getting hired.

Here’s a great little guide you can use:

  • Research CVS and find out how their company operates. Today, with so much info at our fingertips, it’s not only a good idea, employers expect it! Here’s a link to the Official CVS career site: http://info.cvscaremark.com/careers
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes early and walk into the interview office or waiting area 10 minutes before your scheduled time. It’s a great idea to get there well ahead of time even if it means waiting in your car or on foot nearby; the worst thing you can do is stress yourself by cutting it too close and/or by arriving late.
  • Dress appropriately and conservatively. Now would be a good time to get rid of those 10 earrings across the top of your earlobes! For men, dark colored dress slacks and a crisp white shirt will do for entry-level jobs; for management and other professional positions including pharmacists, I recommend a conservative suit and a tie. For women, a pair of slacks, a light-colored blouse, and low heeled shoes will will always do for entry-level jobs. For management and/or professional positions, I recommend a professional pant-suit and dress shoes (no open-toed shoes). Do not wear excessive jewelry or perfume/cologne, and trim your fingernails (ladies get that manicure you’ve been putting off).
  • If you’re applying for any of the professional jobs, have at least two copies of your resume in hand.

By preparing yourself well, you won’t go into your CVS interview second-guessing yourself, and you’ll have a tremendous boost of confidence. Now, go get’em!
